Things to do
Hiking, biking, climbing
The Parco Naturale delle Alpi Marittime not only has extraordinary landscapes, but also an impressive network of trails (made unique by the splendid military mule tracks and the ancient hunting paths of the Kings of the House of Savoy), served by welcoming managed refuges and simple bivouac huts that allow you to cross the protected area while staying at high altitude, as well as to have a good lunch or a snack during day trips.
In the winter season, when there is no danger of avalanches, snow shoes are a perfect way to discover the lower parts of the Park, made magical by the snow.
For those who love biking, there is no shortage of opportunities to have fun with a mountain bike on the mule tracks and paths of the Park and along the paved roads with road bikes (eBike rental points).
Mountaineers can measure themselves against considerable difficulties on rock and ice, along classic routes that have made the history of Ligurian and Piedmontese mountaineering, in environments where solitude is still a contemplated option, capable of giving great satisfaction.
Cross-country skiers in Entracque can count on kilometres of beautiful pistes, which can be used even in years of little snow, at the Centro Fondo Gelas in Entracque.
A small ski resort, ideal for the first approach to skiing, is located just above the village.
In spring, when the roads reopen, the Valle Gesso becomes an ideal terrain for ski touring: enthusiasts who can leave their tracks on classic routes of great beauty - taking care to cause the least possible disturbance to wildlife, of course.
A selection of itineraries for one or more days, circular routes or crossing, from family outings to treks.
The Gesso valley offers itineraries for cyclists and mountain bikers of all levels.
Mountaineering, climbing and vie ferrate
The Maritime Alps are a fantastic place for adventurous mountaineers, but there are also crags, boulders or via ferratas.
The upper Gesso Valley is impossible to reach in winter, but there are plenty of good excursions on the snow in the mid-valley...
