Bandito and Butterfly Circuit

A simple and relaxing walk for everyone in the lower Gesso Valley, which touches two of the Nature Reserves of the Park, the Rocca San Giovanni-Saben Nature Reserve and the the Bandito Caves and the archaeological site of the
Necropolis of Valdieri. We also recommend a visit to the nearby museum, in Piazza Giustizia e Libertà in Valdieri. The walk is part of the selection of itineraries described in the downloadable brochure Passeggiate - Alpi Marittime e Liguri of the series Top20 tra Alpi Marittime e Langhe**.

  • Palanfrè bandit forest ring

Easy ring to discover the surroundings of the beautiful alpine village of Palanfrè and of the beech wood (the "banned" wood, where cutting is forbidden) that has protected it from avalanches for centuries. Palanfrè is a handful of stone houses perched at an altitude of almost 1400 metres at the edge of a large grassy amphitheatre that rises towards the Costa Pianard. Palanfrè is the gentle, friendly mountain: in summer the air is laced with scents of grass, echoes, cow-bells and calls of in the mountains. Hospitality is provided by the Hiking hostel L'Arbergh.\ The hike is part of the selection of high-quality itineraries described in the downloadable brochure Passeggiate - Alpi Marittime e Liguri of the series Top20 tra Alpi Marittime e Langhe.

    Excursions

  • Classic ascent to one of the most beloved corners and refuges in the Gesso Valley. Leaving early in the morning and avoiding the hottest hours of the day, you can calmly observe the many testimonies of pastoralism: the giàs (as the shepherds' mountain shelters are called in this area), old stone walls, herds or flocks in the pastures on large pastures that are not so frequent in Valle Gesso. The hike is part of the selection of valuable itineraries described in the downloadable brochure Escursioni - Valli Gesso e Vermenagna of the series Top20 between Maritime Alps and Langhe.\

  • The lakes circuit via Valasco and Questa refuges

A full-day ring that leads straight to the discovery of the heart of the Park and that touches three lakes and the Valasco and Questa refuges: simply not to be missed. The hike is part of the selection of valuable itineraries described in the downloadable brochure Escursioni - Valli Gesso e Vermenagna of the series Top20 between Maritime Alps and Langhe.\

  • The Fremamorta Lakes circuit

One of the most spectacular excursions in the Park: the long and slightly tiring climb is fully rewarded by the views of the Argentera range. Slopes covered with shrubs, sparse larch trees and finally scree lead to the Fremamorta lakes, an incredible balcony overlooking the Argentera range. Four lakes, lined up in a row a few minutes walk from each other, adding blue to an environment dominated by the grey and brown tones of the rocks. The excursion is part of the selection of itineraries described in the downloadable brochure Escursioni - Valli Gesso e Vermenagna of the series Top20 between Alpi Marittime and Langhe.\

  • In the southern Alps there is nothing to compare with the majestic and imposing scenery of the western side of Argentera and Corno Stella. The new Bozano refuge, built near the historic old structure where the pioneers of mountaineering in the Alpi Marittime stayed, was built on a ship-shaped base in the midst of large boulders that the architect interpreted as waves on a stormy sea. The excursion is part of the selection of itineraries described in the downloadable brochure Escursioni - Valli Gesso e Vermenagna of the series Top20 tra Alpi Marittime e Langhe.\

  • Ascent to the slopes of the Argentera massif, up the Assedras Valley. The Remondino refuge is located in a severe environment, closed in behind by the 3000 metre peaks of the Argentera range, and enjoys a beautiful view of the Valley of Valletta. The hike is part of the selection of itineraries described in the downloadable brochure Excursions - Valli Gesso and Vermenagna of the hill.
