An Alpine village and modern resort: the two sides of the same village.
In the Gesso della Barra valley, lying in the sun in a glacial cirque between the waters of three streams, Entracque offers a wealth of experiences. From strolls around the old part of the village, to relaxing hikes around the outlying hamlets, to a number of outdoor sports: downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snow shoes, ski mountaineering, climbing, the via ferrata, fishing...
The cross-country ski centre in Entracque, with its 30 km of tracks, is the most important in the province of Cuneo. The highest mountains in the Maritime Alps surround the village, all there to be discovered on foot or MTB.
Well worth a visit is Uomini e Lupi visitor centre on the edge of the picturesque town hall square!
This is a village of ancient traditions both religious and not, and there are some unmissable dates. In September there is the Potato fair, a typical local product. Only once every five years in Easter week, the traditional Parlate take place (the last was 2015), a dramatic re-evocation of the Passion of Christ, with processions, recitations and festivities.
Entracque's economic fortune is written in its name and is linked to the abundance of water in this area: between the 1960s and 1980s just above the village two large hydroelectric reservoirs were built. The guided visit to the Luigi Einaudi underground power station is an interesting opportunity for both schools and curious tourists.
